The Difference with Family Owned
“Apotheca is a family-owned business and our commitment to you and your family is what sets us apart from the traditional supplier/distributor relationship.
We strive to give our customers the most competitive price, an extensive product line, and most of all a team to take care of all your needs.
Over the years we have built our company to set us apart from all other suppliers/distributors to carry all items needed in a facility.”
You might’ve seen something like this on our social media accounts before but you probably don’t know the whole story.
The Difference That “Family Owned” Can Make, Especially in 2022
Chief Operating Officer Alaysha Lucy-McCarthy helped fill us in,
“I am the 3rd generation here at Apotheca, Inc. as my father is the owner of the company. It started back when his dad started the company 47 years ago. We are a Wholesale/Manufacturer company. You will rarely see a company with both sides. Our main objective is to supply the industry with the best prices, latest technology, and most importantly great customer service. We have designed a unique In-House Physicians Dispensing System. This makes it so a physician can have an on-site pharmacy and dispense to patients so they don’t have to stop at a pharmacy and wait 30 minutes for their medication. We also can custom package all medication for your company. We are a one-stop-shop as we just opened our new line for medical supplies.“
In 1973,Alaysha’s grandparents Mitchel and BonnieHerseth founded Apotheca, Inc. to meet the needs of Arizona healthcare providers of ALLshapes and sizes from the West Valley country doctor working out of a one-room clinic to the most luxuries Scottsdale medical suites. Over time Apotheca has expanded scope, gaining a larger customer base and a loyal portfolio of long-term clients. As Alaysha alluded to, Apotheca’s rare standing as a wholesaler and a pharmaceutical manufacturer allowed that business model to be leveraged to offer our very-own and industry-unique In-House Physicians Dispensing System which came just when healthcare providers started needing it most: right about when COVID-19 rewrote almost every book in the field.
The Global pandemic and associated lockdowns devastated supply lines and made it difficult if not impossible for many providers to keep medications but also general medical supplies stocked. And just like in 1973 when the Herseths saw a need and filled it, their third-generation descendants saw the industry discover this pain-point and acted quickly launching a medical supply line at reasonable prices to help close the gap, keeping providers in business and patients safely supplied.
This is one of the key differentiators of a generational business with business and interpersonal relationships that span lifetimes not just years and decades, when your suppliers and your clients have been with you so long they’ve become trusted friends, advisors and relied upon partners the entire business dynamic changes. It ‘s not cut-throat it’s cooperation with self-interest, it’s not mutually assured destruction, it’s mutually assured survival. It’s old West Arizona-style thinking dressed up for the 21st century. The Feed-store didn’t run the Grocer out of business for the same reason the Druggist didn’t try to muscle out the Doctor. When supply chains work together to bring quality products to the end-customer, everybody wins.
After COVID it became clear that the suppliers and distributors who can pivot from the previous framework of just-in-time production to the new regulatory environment imposed by COVID19 and the maintenance of a standing inventory to buffer disruptions will succeed, those who cannot either fail and collapse or require massive government subsidy to survive (barely, if at all.) The true winners will be our patients and our partners when we work together smoothly, efficiently, and reliably to close supply gaps by managing both demand and customer expectations.
Our role is the same today as it was 47 years ago: to facilitate your success by providing the framework within which supply, and demand find one another and business is safely, legally and regularly conducted in a world that is becoming increasingly physically hazardous, legally unpredictable and costly in terms of finances and lives. And the Apotheca family (three generations of it counting Alaysha and her brother Michael!) is here to help yours.
Apotheca Wholesale Pharmaceuticals is well equipped and ideally suited to help your business wade through the uncertain changesthat 2022 will bring, supporting you as we have since the beginning of the COVID19 Emergency and continuing long afterit’s end.
